About this deal

Skrewdriver had initially toured as an apolitical punk band in the 70s but Pearce convinced Donaldson to relaunch the band in 1982 with a new line up and to promote the National Front’s agenda. Donaldson was both a musician and ran the Blood and Honour neo-Nazi network. He was the frontman of a band called Skrewdriver, which openly promoted far-right groups and also was also the lead in two other bands called the Klansman and White Diamond.

A music festival has been held to remember him by Blood and Honour including one set up in 2016 near Ely. His former friend and mentor Joe Pearce, once a leading member of the National Front, explained that during his time in prison Donaldson became more hardened in his beliefs.

Skrewdriver: The First Ten Years – The Way It's Got to Be! by Joe Pearce. Skrewdriver Services, London 1987. When the Skinhead craze died down Ian turned to the Suedehead scene. It was a natural progression. The new scene was made up mostly of ex-Skinheads who had out grown their crops and were listening to Northern Soul music. For Ian, transport became a trendy Lambretta scooter. Although he had listened to Ska and Northern Soul music of the Skins and Suedes, his main musical influence remained the Rolling Stones. However, John “Grinny” Grinton later stated in an interview that he had no problem with the new Skrewdriver and that he became a member of the National Front along with Donaldson. The ISD gig is held every September by the white power movement Blood and Honour (B&H) to mark the anniversary of the death of the B&H founder and former Skrewdriver frontman Ian Stuart Donaldson, who died in a car accident in 1993. GLORIFYING VIOLENCE Talland, who runs a building company from his Waltham Abbey home, makes a pretty penny out of the ISD gig. In arranging the annual event, he rents out the stage and PA system to Blood and Honour and has exclusive rights to sell alcohol and merchandise. At last year’s ISD gig, he proved 20 barrels of beer and 4,000 cans of lager at a 600% mark up. His son, Steve, also runs the largest merchandising stall, selling hundreds of CDs, T-shirts, and books. In the UK Blood and Honour regularly hosts secret festivals several times a year, the largest is Donaldson’s memorial each September. At the time the coroner delivered a verdict of accidental death stating: “We are still no nearer finding out what caused this tragic accident. All we can say is that because of the car’s two defects the car became less easy to control.”

Bartender says, “Things are looking up in 2022 and so are you three!” There are 8-10 Blood and Honour concerts around the UK every year that attract normally less than 100 people. This was bigger but made up mainly of people from overseas who see coming to the UK and getting away with a concert here as a major result." However, John "Grinny" Grinton later stated in an interview that he had no problem with the new Skrewdriver, and that he became a member of the National Front along with Donaldson. [1] Attending Baines grammar school, Ian managed to collect five high grade O levels. There was no doubting his intelligence, but his heart always tend to be in music and youth culture. In 1978, Donaldson moved to Manchester, where he recruited guitarist Glenn Jones and drummer Martin Smith. This line-up toured extensively, but certain venues were reluctant to book the band because of their reputation as a skinhead band. In the late 80s Blood and Honour were publishing quarterly magazines and staging concerts across the country but they had also provoked a highly organised opposition group called Anti-Fascist Action. The gig was well attended with people attending this important milestone event from across the country, with concert goers from across England, Wales and Scotland as well as a number of people coming from assorted European countries. We have uncovered evidence that right wing Canadian band Légitime Violence are due to headline this year’s Ian Stuart Donaldson (ISD) gig – the largest annual white power concert held in the UK.
